This year marks my fifth year working in the Financial Technology sector. Mainly I work on conversion projects, supporting both the conversion team and our customers that are converting. From planning and delivering pre-conversion training to go-live support and the necessary change management that goes along with any major software change, I’ve seen the good, the bad and the ugly of software conversions.
Conversions are always challenging, both for the conversion team and for the business undergoing the conversion. But in my time working on conversion projects, some common themes emerged that have a big impact on whether a conversion will go smoothly or not so smoothly.
